Episode Four Five (5) – “Lies Making”

Quick, hide” I told Kobby and quickly rushed to the door but just when my Dad and Mum forcefully budged in, surprisingly Kobby was no where to be found.

I presumed that he rushed out through the window, but that was super fast. Never knew Kobby was that quick. At least that saved the situation. What if my parent had caught him here? “Wahala”

“So would you tell me what you went to do at Mrs. Benson’s house at this time of the night” that’s my Dad first question.

I dare not tell him I went with the intention of seeing Kobby. He will kill me.

“and you had the guts to sneak out of this house” He continued.

What lie can I come up with? Definitely not the “mango lie”. He is my father he knows I’m allergic to it.

“And you even smashed her window” He added. All this while I couldn’t say anything, I was busy thinking of the lie to come up with but nothing was popping up.

I used to convince myself that I was a good lier, not that I’m proud of it but hey, everybody lies but if you must lie, then it should be a good one.

One time, Dad lied to Mummy that he was sick of malaria and needed to sleep but I knew this wasn’t sickness but he was intoxicated of “Akpeteshie” the local alcohol. He got away with it and I believe it’s my turn now.

“You won’t get away with this child, you’re going to clean the chicken coop for the rest of the week. That’s just the beginning of your punishment”

Damn!!! I hate chickens. Well, that statement saved me from telling a lie. Just before they stepped out of the room, my dad came up with another question.

“And what do I keep hearing that, you’re mocking Ms. Benson with her dead son, Don’t you have any respect for the dead” My dad said.

“Dead son? Is my dad going mad too… why is he referring to my Kobby, Dead. I guess I need to add my dad to the crazy checklist, just after Ms. Benson.

That’s weird, probably it’s another son of Ms Benson that I don’t know of. Well I never knew Ms Benson had another son, I won’t be surprise though. I was actually getting relieved over this.

I decided to close the window after my parents had left. Just when I shut it, I heard Kobby’s voice behind me.

“Lust” He called.

I freaked out. He was standing right beside the bed. How possible?
